Job Description

NES Fircroft are looking for a Lead Planning Engineer to join a major operator on a 28/28 rotation in Iraq.
This role is working within the Maintenance and Engineering department reporting to the Maintenance & Engineering Project and Modifications manager and will be an integral member of a multi-discipline Project Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Candidate’s responsibilities shall include:

  • Provide HSE Leadership and work with the contractor to deliver fully on client expectations on HSE.
  • Provide direction, focus, guidance, support, Prioritization, and oversight for Project teams and Contractors, related to Portfolio Management and Business Strategy.
  • Strategic planning overview for a Portfolio of multi-year Projects.
  • Provide feedback to Management on the suitability of Project delivery schedules, with a focus on safety, ensuring compression or sequencing assumptions are not made that would result in increased risk to HSE at site.
  • Verify accuracy and suitability of Contractor provided Project Progress reports.
  • Produce progress reports at portfolio level.
  • Review and Approval of Project Baseline Schedules from EPC/EPCm Contractors.
  • Incorporate Project schedule updates into Master Portfolio plan, performing any resultant delay analysis and advising on mitigation measures as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of planning and cost consolidation to support and direct Management in strategic decisions.
  • Contribute to Change Management process to ensure changes are recorded and impacts are reflected on the Portfolio Plan and Strategy.
  • Compile schedule and delay analysis of Projects to provide cost improvement and schedule efficiency recommendations as part of a lessons learned process.
  • Provide input to Contracting Strategies and Manpower plans.
  • Provide input and updates to the 12 week lookahead plan and 8Q plans.
  • Participate in 12wk Lookaheads and 8Q planning meetings with Operations Department.
  • Provide coaching and guidance, on the subject of planning/scheduling, to local national planners as part of our commitment to development and progression of local nationals.
  • Integration of project plans with input from major stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain planning and progress measurement systems capable of alerting the Project of any adverse trends.
  • Produce ad hoc programmes, planning what if scenarios, presentations, and reports.
  • Responsible for projects risk register update and follow-up of mitigation plans with all Projects Team members.
  • Provide input to weekly and monthly reports.
  • Hold regular Planning review meetings with Project Team to review overall project status.
  • Audit contractors’ planning and reporting systems; verify invoiced progress and quantities.
  • Facilitate and present information for internal project meetings.

CRITERIA / QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree or equivalent qualifications / experience or a minimum of 10 years’ experience in similar roles in the oil and gas industry. Petrochemical, Energy, Civil/M&E/E&I Construction
  • Demonstrable experience working with Primavera and risk analysis software on projects in the Oil and Gas industry.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Have experience in Brownfield construction Projects.
  • Be Experienced in the management of Portfolio planning.
  • Has the ability to suitably engage with stakeholders and communicate effectively.
  • Understand the relationship between schedule and cost and the methods of consolidating these.
  • Willing to work on a rotational basis internationally.
  • Have the ability to work in a diverse multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong communication skills including writing reports and presenting.
  • Candidates should have knowledge and experience in project management processes.
