ساعات العمل | دليل مدينة أبو ظبي | بيت.كوم

While Fridays are a weekly day of rest in the UAE, commercial and professional businesses work 40-45 hours a week with government ministries working about 35. Retail businesses, restaurants, hotels and other service industries generally work eight to nine hours per day and often on a two-shift system with set hours in the morning and evening. For those employed in Abu Dhabi in highly challenging or dangerous jobs, hours may be reduced. In the event of overtime hours, additional pay is required for manual and lower ranking staff.

For many professional work places, Friday and Saturday are considered the weekend whereas some still practice a Thursday – Friday weekend. There are 10 days of public holidays (paid) in any year.

Employees in Abu Dhabi are entitled to 30 days annual paid leave after the first year of completed service, or two days for every month of service if they have worked more than six months and less than a year. This does not include sick leave, national holidays, or maternity leave.

On special occasions such as Ramadan or Eid, working hours may be reduced.
