COMPANY HISTORY Gulf Fluor is an Abu Dhabi based chemical manufacturing company determined to meet the growing demand for aluminium fluoride in the Arab Gulf, and also covers part of the import requirements of neighbouring regions. In 2006, following a thorough analysis confirming the technical and economic viability of the project, Gulf Fluor has announced the construction of a fluoride complex in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi. Since its establishment, Gulf Fluor has met all the requirements for its operations, and has set up strategic partnerships with leading European technology companies that provide the company with the most advanced, cutting edge solutions for hydrogen fluoride, aluminium fluoride and sulphuric acid plant. PRODUCTS The Gulf Fluor complex has a capacity of 60,000 tonnes/annum of aluminium fluoride (AlF3), 10,000 tonnes/annum of Hydrofluoric acid (HF) and 195,000 tonnes/annum of anhydrous calcium sulphate. The importance of these products: Aluminium fluoride is an important additive in the production of aluminium metal. The Arab Gulf has become a major centre for aluminium production due to its attractive energy prices and vast energy resources. Hydrofluoric acid is also used as intermediate product for the manufacture of fluorocarbons, such as R-134a and R-125, which are widely used in refrigeration and cooling applications, and fluorinated polymers. It is also used for petroleum alkylation, steel pickling, glass etching and production of nitrogen trifluoride. Gulf Fluor also produces: Anhydrous Hydrofluoric Acid (AHF) Sulphuric Acid (H2SO4) Calcium Sulfate (CaSO4)
