Laboratory Supervisor Job - Als Arabia

Specific Responsibilities:
• Promptly and efficiently carry out the instructions of the Manager
• Ensure technical integrity of all analytical data produced by the site
• Ensure implementation and compliance with the Company’s Quality Procedure Manual, Test and Calibration Methods.
• Assume direct liaison with clients with particular regard to superintending
• Set up working files and maintain them during the course of a job
• Prepare, final reports, including interpretation and comments, if so instructed, and ensure they are presented to Clients’ satisfaction
• Ensure that reporting deadlines (7 days a week) are met both for external clients and other company laboratories
• Provide technical support and issue job instructions to Analytical and Testing Supervisors, as required
• Ensure by delegation of job functions, that the required standards are maintained in the following areas:
• Maintenance/Calibration
• Safety
• Purchasing
• Test Methods
• Immediately refer any instances of willful misconduct, negligence or unsatisfactory performance/behaviour by staff to the upper management for handling and resolution
• Strive for increased efficiency at reduced cost, while maintaining and improving the quality of work and the competence and morale of staff
• Responsible for authorizations of overtime in advance
• Supervise the induction of all new permanent and casual laboratory staff and ensure staff are fully trained in all procedures, including safety. Ensure that all staff at the Laboratory conform to their requirements of their position description in particular responsibilities and duties
• Keep the Manager informed at all times concerning all aspects of the laboratory’s operation
• Act as the site quality officer to ensure that requirements for are implemented and maintained
• Assist Management in other duties as and when required

Career Advancement:
The operations manager will be one of the first employees to move into the top brass of management.

Position Duties and Scope:

• Ensuring that analytical procedures and associated tasks for which they are responsible are conducted in accordance with the Laboratories Quality Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies.
• Ensuring that all tasks and analyses are performed within the timeframe set down by the Senior Chemist and the relevant analysis standard.
• Ensure turnaround times and productivity levels are met.
• The reporting of results as required by the Senior Chemist.
• Highlighting anomcealies in results, sample type and sample behaviour to the Senior Chemist.
• Calibrating equipment as required by the Senior Chemist and the laboratories quality procedures.
• Controlling consumable stock required for the tasks performed.
• Performing housekeeping duties as required.
• Other duties, as requested, relating to this position.

Quality Responsibilities: The Laboratory Technician has the following quality responsibilities:
• To ensure that all analysis and duties are performed in accordance with ALS Arabia quality procedures.
• To ensure that only calibrated equipment used and instrument maintenance is up to date.
Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities: The Laboratory Technician has the following safety responsibilities:
• To be familiar with the safety requirements as set out in the safety manual.
• To have a knowledge of and comply with the company safety policy.
• To notify and/or rectify any unsafe practice acknowledged by any member of staff.
