Research Associate, MI project, Paediatrics & Child Health -MC

Introduction

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to supervise and monitor the research activities including data collection as well as maintaining necessary records, creating and sustaining liaison with the relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of all necessary activities of the project. Specific responsibilities include to:

• provide technical support for the preparation of study data collection tools
• support the pilot of research instruments-recommend modifications accordingly
• conduct project related staff training
• conduct interviews with key stakeholders as required
• provide support for all field research activities
• conduct monitoring visits at the field sites as required
• conduct study data analysis as required
• organize and attend stakeholder meetings as required
• provide support for the preparation of study progress reports for PI/co-PI and donor organizations
• provide support in writing project technical reports, and scientific publications

Requirements

You should have:

• Masters in Public Health, Health Policy & Management, Social Sciences or a related field
• two years of relevant experience preferably in community settings, hospitals or a research facility
• excellent interpersonal skills particularly communication skills
• proficiency in the use of computer applications, particularly MS Word and Excel
• proficiency in the use of analytical software such as NVivo, SPSS, STATA, etc.
• the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
• the ability to work effectively in teams and the resilience to cope-up with work pressure
• excellent communication and report-writing skills
• willingness to work in a community setting and travel as per work requirements
