Role Purpose
This is an excellent opportunity for a Head of Engineering for OXAGON who will be responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and infrastructure of this cutting-edge new city in Saudi Arabia. The Head of Engineering is a key member of the city management team, working closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure that the development is built to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Responsibilities
- Overseeing the engineering operations of the municipality, including planning, designing, and executing projects related to infrastructure development, transportation, and utilities.
- Planning, coordinating, and signing off the design of the development's physical infrastructure and all utilities including Electricity, Water, Waste Management, Pneumatic waste, district cooling, telecoms, and mobility among others.
- Coordinating with other municipal departments and agencies, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure that engineering projects are aligned with the goals and needs of the community.
- Keeping abreast of technological advancements, industry trends, and best practices in engineering, and applying this knowledge to improve municipal operations and projects.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, such as zoning laws, building codes and environmental regulations.
- Ensure compliance with incorporating geo-physical assessment findings into asset design and/or earthquake/tsunami protection measures. As the designated nominee for Oxagon region, take part in an ongoing NEOM wide working group to drive progress in seismic understanding, monitoring and protection.
- Preparing reports and presentations for municipal officials and stakeholders, providing updates on engineering projects, and recommending courses of action.
- Identifying opportunities for energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost savings in the development's infrastructure, and working with architects and contractors to implement these measures.
- Communicating with stakeholders, including tenants, occupants, investors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure that the development meets their needs and expectations.
BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Experience: The Head of Engineering should have several years of experience in engineering, construction, or project management, preferably in the real estate industry. This experience should include overseeing the design and construction of large-scale projects.
Technical Skills: the Head of Engineering should have a strong technical background in engineering and construction, with expertise in areas such as civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering, depending on the specific needs of the development.
- Highly organized, with experience in project management, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including community groups, government officials, and project teams.
- An innovative mindset with experience in driving innovative solutions in large scale
- Ability to analyse and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal
- Ability to negotiate and defuse conflict.
- Experience leading and managing high performing individuals and teams.
- Ability to be a team player that motivates and educates other team members and comprehends complex, technical subjects.
- Ability to work in an agile and dynamic environment.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering is mandatory
A masters in a relevant subject is highly desirable.
