Overview

Research and Development Center conducts strategic research, development and demonstration programs in support of Saudi Aramco’s drive for innovation.  We are currently pursuing several technology development opportunities in strategic and downstream research and development areas. 
We wish to appoint a high caliber individual to our hydrogen and sustainability programs.  This newly created position will have overall responsibility in bringing the reforming technologies for synthesis gas production from pilot demonstration to pre-commercial scales. Specifically, key responsibilities are:
Conduct pre-feasibility and full feasibility studies of reforming processes (steam reforming, gasification, partial oxidation) for hydrogen and hydrogen carrier production.
Lead and assist in development of processes and technologies
Provide hands-on assistance with the commissioning, operation and maintenance of pilot demonstration and pre-commercial units.
Liaise with production & facility planning personnel to ensure technology implementation within Saudi Aramco and affiliates facilities.
Train junior engineers, while keeping abreast with the engineering and scientific developments of oil-based fuel reforming technologies.
Assist with project management requirements of the hydrogen and sustainability programs.




Key Responsibilities

Lead research team development and collaboration activities with suitable collaborators and partners 
Support and guide inhouse technologies development efforts
Provide hands-on assistance with the commissioning, operation and maintenance of pilot demonstration and pre-commercial oil-based fuel reforming units.
Liaise with production & facility planning personnel to ensure that oil-based reforming technology can be deployed in various Saudi Aramco assets within the scope of downstream and strategic R&D activities.
Train young Saudi engineers, while keeping abreast with the engineering and scientific developments of oil-based fuel reforming technologies.
Assist with project management requirements of the hydrogen and sustainability program.
 




Minimum Requirements

PhD qualified in Chemical Engineering with specialization in hydrocarbon reforming.


More than 10 years of professional experience, preferably in a design or operational role in the hydrocarbon-based hydrogen production technologies.


Conversant with various reforming technologies, for example Catalytic Partial Oxidation, Autothermal Reforming, and Steam Reforming, as well as emerging concepts relevant to synthesis gas and hydrogen production.


Knowledge and background in catalysis relevant to reforming reactions


Familiar with various design codes & standards for high pressure and high temperature reactor and separator vessels.


Strong project management and process documentation experience.


Prior involvement with hydrocarbon-based technology development from concept to large scale implementation will be highly regarded, as will experience with front end engineering development (FEED).
