Generally speaking, managing people mostly proves more difficult than managing tasks, processes, results, and roadmaps etc. that make up the remainder of a project, as the human behavior is more colorful and unpredictable, especially when it relates to Management of Group Processes (MGP).
From another point of view, managing your project team is only a part of leading the whole project to a safe shore and a good result, which makes managing a project a more daunting job. It is a subjective matter that relates to the strength and weaknesses of your project elements (including, but not limited to, people).
Team is part of project, so indirectly managing team is part of managing project. Both are not difficult if it is properly planned.
Team comprises of many people with different minds so its difficult for any one to control people according their mind set. so for me managing team is a challenging part.when you manage team successfully then you can automatic run your project successfully.
It depends on the composition of team and nature and complexity involved in the project. If the team is competent enough and well motivated then your focus should be more on project management else you have to spend more time and resources to take care of the team itself.
I feel,managing a team is more challenging than handling a project.
Simple reason is that if the team members are in equal ration of understanding and of cooperative attitude
no task would be difficult!
The project will automatically get managed if the team is organized effectively. The team must be cooperative, productive and trained in their Key Skill areas.
I believe managing the project involves managing the team they are interrelated.
sound management is challenging,qualified managers manage all resources effectively and efficiently.

In any scenario managing team is always a bigger CHALLENGE as their potential is variable.
