In my point of view following are the obstacle;

1. Lack of Concentrating on more than one task at a time

2. At repetition of task thinking that you know everything... However, any new project bring something new to be understand

There can be a lot of reason's as to why there is an obstacle to get a good career. It can be your ambition, your personality, the company itself, number of years spend  in an organization etc.

An employee in any organization is an individual with own mind set, personality and character. Hence it is important to first identify if there is a goal you wish to pursue within the organization. If you don't have a goal, you will see yourself aimless and waste good number of years in the same position or even loose the job in the worse case scenario.

If you are an employee just like the rest of the employee's, working just for the sake of having a job and salary security, that's the first obstacle to achieving a good career. No goal, no motivation, limiting oneself to just one kind of skill, not open to change, are few reason.

Secondly, a person who breaks free of the above needs to know the organization and its goals, growth prospects, understand the type of management, frequency of opportunities etc are all the loopholes you need to identify proactively to set your goals. Be ready for challenges you aren't accustomed to. Adapting to the environment like the chameleon but strictly maintaining professionalism and integrity. Many fail to see these steps and fall out by not being prepared.

One must also see to it that the organization you work for is a place you want to give your best and take the best from it too. If not and it doesn't match your aspirations, must be brave and ready to find better opportunity and take another leap to a better career. Groom yourself, and always educate and prepare yourself to pursue your goals all the time. Be open to criticism, be it positive or negative, it will only be a lessons learned that can polish you to shine.

Also avoid to be in just one position before you become de motivated and starts to think and become just another employee. Loosing focus, being aimless, careless attitude towards job, being too emotional, over confidence, being too loud and vocal, are few things to watch out for to crack through a good career opportunity,

Constantly being forced to move .... if you have a spouse in the military receiving orders to move every4 years will get you into many occupational fields...

You will be very diverse, however you expertise in your main occupational field suffers ...

Downsizing ... Age .... a large pool of unemployed people ...

1) Lack of self confidence and limiting self

2) Communication skills, not getting your best attitude to be noticed

3) Attitude towards advancement; need to make time to research for opportunities, and even read articles on the internet that the managers and supervisors are reading

4) Personality fit; have to overcome the staff clashes, be above it.  (I know it is not easy and everyone will fail, so what, keep dusting off and get back up).

5) Interpersonal skills requires understanding multi-cultural variations, have to know how not to inadvertently insult colleagues.

6) Scout continuously to improve self, do good for others, ask "may I help with something" especially your supervisor, managers, as even making a good cup of coffee at that critical time when they are feeling particularly low, will get you noticed and protect your job now, and put your name at the top of the list for promotion.  DON'T OVER DO IT, that will get you a few knives in your back from equals.   Rather work as a team to assist management, it works for the company as a whole.

Career obstacle1: Downsized

You've lost your job, either because of company downsizing, or because you've been fired. The sudden loss of a job can make you feel depressed, regretful, lost, or angry, and can also cause your self-confidence to diminish.

It's hard to pick yourself up and move forward when you're mired in these emotions.

Take action

Avoid asking yourself negative questions like "Why me?" and "What if?" Instead, focus on positive questions like, "What can I learn from this event?" and "What can I control?" Then take action.

Instead of wallowing in self-pity, the soul-searching that results from approaching this challenge in a positive manner will help propel you forward. Tell yourself that eventually, the loss of your job will result in something better. It's true.

Career obstacle2: Demoted

You've been demoted. Perhaps your company has reorganized and needs you to take a step backward, or perhaps, for one reason or another, you've had to accept a new position that has less responsibility -- or pays less money -- than your previous position.

Build your skills

Don't worry. You are unlikely to tumble down the ladder. For a variety of reasons it's sometimes necessary to take a lateral or backward move.

Stay flexible, remain positive, and don't sulk. Instead, do the best job you can while devising a plan to get yourself moving in the right direction.

In an economy where there's a dearth of jobs, continue to build your skill level and expertise by taking classes, seminars, or certification courses so that when jobs do open up, you have a leg up.

Career obstacle3: Down for the count

You have a long-term illness or injury that results in having to take a significant amount of time off from work.

You worry that you will no longer be needed when you are ready to come back, or that you won't be able to perform your job in the same manner.

Focus on wellness

First of all, focus on getting well. You will learn invaluable lessons involving strength, courage, and perseverance that will stand you in good stead once you return to the workforce.

Depending upon what you do it may or may not be possible to return to work in the same capacity.

Use your recovery time to rediscover your unique strengths, both new and old, and think about how you can apply them to the workplace.
