Due to following reasons, AC systems are preferred over DC systems: a.
It is easy to maintain and change the voltage of AC electricity for transmission and distribution.
b.
Plant cost for AC transmission (circuit breakers, transformers etc) is much lower than the equivalent DC transmission c.
From power stations, AC is produced so it is better to use AC then DC instead of converting it.
d.
When a large fault occurs in a network, it is easier to interrupt in an AC system, as the sine wave current will naturally tend to zero at some point making the current easier to interrup

Because AC system can easily convert into dc system but dc system cannot convert into ac system easily .
Suppose we have a power plant of ac system so there we can get convert current in dc system in easy way where if we have dc power plant so there we will have a great difficulties to convert it into ac system thats why ac system are preferred on the dc system.

AC is very easy to Maintain and it can be easily distributed at long distances with the less cost and less power loss . its maintenance and plant has very low cost as compared to DC .

The most important factor is that AC can be easily converted into DC by using a Rectifier . but Conversion of DC is very difficult ----->> the use of Inverters  .

Durig a fault natural current zero tends to occur in AC so it can be easily interrupt

Transmission loss very less in high voltage transmission and equipment cost required for transmission less in AC copared to DC

In AC Step Up and Step down easily done by using Transformer

AC fluctuating and if we get any shock it is less harmful than the DC system

There are several reasons to justify the statement.

1) The Major advantage that AC has over DC is that AC voltages can be easily transformed to higher or lower voltage levels, while it is difficult to do in case of DC voltages. Since high voltages are more efficient in sending voltages at greater distances in transmission thus AC has a clear advantage over DC in this regard.

2) Plant cost if AC Voltage operated (Circuit Breakers, Relays and Transformers etc) is much lower than its equivalent DC voltages.

3) In Power Stations, AC is produced so it is better to use AC than DC instead of converting it as it is more cose effective.

4) The most important factor is that AC can be easily converted into DC when needed by using a Rectifier but Conversion of DC is very difficult and costly i.e: using the Inverters.

5) When largers faults occur in a electrical network, it is easier to interrupt in an AC system as the SINE wave current will naturally tend to zero at some point making it easier to interrupt instantly.

Because AC is easy and cheap to transform from one voltage to another using transformers. High voltage means less amperage for the same power, meaning you can do with thinner wires.

With AC, it's easier and cheaper to transform 400kV from transmission lines into the 110 or 220V that you can use at home.

Semiconductors that are now available and are similar to switching power supplies -

DC can be converted more economically. So high voltage DC transmission lines are now becoming more popular. DC has the advantage that you have no losses due to EM radiation. So the old rules are changing due to technology.

in one word AC is Preferred over Dc due to its "Conversion flexibility from one voltage level to other"

AC systems are preferred over DC systems : it is easy to maintain and changes the voltage of AC power for transmission and distribution.

- Plant cost of AC transmission( circuit breakers, transformers etc) much lower than equivalent DC transmission.

To keep the wires in transmission lines as thin as practical, the voltage is stepped up via transformers.
Raising the voltage reduces the current (if the power load remains the same) and therefore reduces the heat build up in the conductor.
AC can be stepped up and back down with transformers quite easily whereas DC cannot as transformers rely on a constantly changing EMF(electro motive force).
If the DC was left at the supply voltage over a very large distance the volt drop would be too great and the wires would have to be enormously thick (and expensive) in order to carry the required current.
Modern technology has brought about ways to step up voltage of DC with solid state circuitry and is becoming a possibility for the future, but it is still expensive and not quite as efficient or reliable as the good old transformer.
Fairly high voltage DC can also be quite dangerous, if you were to grab a wire with damaged insulation it becomes very hard to release the hand from it as the muscles clamp up tight.
This isn't to say that grabbing an AC bare wire would be any good for you either but you have more of a chance of releasing yourself from it.

Well there are some diffrences such as it is easy to convert ac system to DC and it is less in cost rather than DC system. DC power is quite dangerous than AC so company preffered AC systems more.
