Would a laissez-faire approach be fruitful in public institutions? Would you adopt this type of leadership if you were a leader or manager?

""Laissez-faire" approach means to delegate power of decision making to the workers. In Public institutions this approach is not feasible because here we need a solid and perfect policy to deal public.

However, in certain projects we can apply this approach at a certain level; giving free hand to do a work after setting aims and objectives.

Although this question is beyond the purview of my expertise (English language and literature), I'd like to answer it as an expression of my personal opinion. In my capacity as a leader or manager (a teacher is aso a leader / manager), I wouldn't allow laissez faire approach and let things take their own course if I feel it would aggravate the situation since I have a responsibility to lead or manage. But, there are occasions when one has to wait and watch, and intervene only if things seem to go out of control. But I suppose, laissez faire approach is not good for public institutions.

I do not think laissez-faire is approach is the best approach for public institutions. Government or concerned authority has to interfered to bring balance and justice for all. It is not recommended for a leader or manager to let thing happen on its own, instead control has to be exercised on important things.

laissez-faire [(les-ay-fair, lay-zay-fair)] French for “Let (people) do (as they choose).” It describes a system or point of view that opposes regulation .

Public Institutions cannot have that kind of leadership style. Only research institutions  can adopt such leadership styles.
