I think it would be wrong to isolate a single skill in todays world of cut through competition. Being into sales & business development, in all honesty there is no survival with just one or two skills being your forte. you need to be great communicator, presenter, negotiator, technically equipped, aggressive, etc. all the same time and with equal calibre. I am sure it's more or less a similar competitive situation in other sectors, apart from sales, as well.
