Can you explain the importance of the role of confidentiality to the auditor_ client relationship?

As Auditor has unlimited access to Financial & non-financial information related to an entity, confidentiality arise to protect the client for business aspects (e.g : Client's competitors) or within the organization itself ( not all employees have access to all organizational data that is permitted to an Auditor).
