They are the "fine adjustment" for the fire in a combustion chamber. They light up first, creating a fine fire that will in turn help burn more fuel when the primary valve opens. It is the fine fire that starts the GT, just like the pilots in a gas kitchen.

Base on my Experienced in general electric gas turbine before we start the turbine we need to ratcheting for 12 hours from then we start to run in auxiliary pump just to use in starting the accessoriy gear box that controls the limits speed before it reaches into the ignition point of spark plugs and produce air compressor in the combustion chamber thus will run the turbine.

Pilot gas burners are for first ignition of fuel during gas turbine start up. In some gas turbines ignition is made through individual ignition system by means of ignition gas (Like Acetylene) and gas burners. After ignition and once flame is created, the main fuel (i.e. natural gas) will be supplied to combustion chambers and will continue to burn itself continuously. At this stage pilot gas burners are no longer required to be in operation
