Air is required for Combustion in COmbustion system where is mixed with Natural Gas for burning. Inlet filters are installed upstream of Gas Turbines to remove any impurities. Compressors are installed to compressor the air before mixing with Natural Gas.

without air, combustion is not possible and to complete fire triangle Air (Oxygen) is mendetory.
Air intake comes from the athmosphere thru Air intake housing via air compressor for the firing of combustion chamber to create hot gasses to deflect in turbine blades to rotate. Air is one component of the fire triangle.
For every combustion engines it requires clean air to create the conbustion. Because without oxigen we cannot create a flame.
