MIMO technology is used in LTE having configuration of 2x2, 4x48x8 . Currently we are using 4x4 in most of the cases . For UE it depends upon category. like CAT 6, CAT7, latest is CAT 16 in SMUSUNG S8 having 4x4 MIMO support.

3 antennas are used in LTE which may be of2*4 o4*4 MIMO antennas

Types of Antennas are

Type  1

Type3 AND4

Type5

or S Rosenberg wave antenna

3 dual band antennas for LTE 2300

3 single polarized for LTE 1800

Release 13 is currently studying the use of larger numbers of MIMO antennas, also known as Massive MIMO, as well as using the vertical dimension for MIMO transmission.

All today’s terminals have two antennas for reception and one antenna for transmission. The first four-antenna terminals are already available in the market in the form of LTE + Wi-Fi routers.
