Operating Unit Overview
Our Accounting Advisory Consulting team currently has exciting opportunities across the Middle East region (including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar and Oman). Our team advises clients on a wide range of accounting and financial reporting related transactions, identifying issues and providing accounting options and solutions that meet our client’s objectives.


We are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated accountant with a proven track record of analyzing complex IFRS technical matters - applying both an accounting technical and commercial mindset.


Job Description


Our Accounting Advisory teams advises on a variety of complex transactions and accounting matters. As part of that the team requires relevant expertise and experience in complex IFRS technical matters.


This role would involve both client facing and non client facing responsibilities:


  • Non client facing responsibilities: acting as an IFRS technical accounting SME within the wider Accounting Advisory team and supporting with the review and analysis of complex technical matters the team encounters. It would also involve liasing and coordinating with our central ACS technical team as appropriate.
  • Client facing responsibilities: supporting engagement teams in discussions with clients when brainstorming ideas and solutions and also discussing complex technical accounting matters.
  • Business development: the proposed role would not have business development responsibilities around identifying or converting opportunities.
  • Project delivery responsibilities: the proposed role would be to provide SME support to project teams and the wider Accounting Advisory team and not necessarily being part of project teams day to day.

Responsibilities


The role sits within a rapidly growing part of the Accounting Advisory team. You will have access to all of the latest training and development tools and the support of the wider PwC network.


You will be based in our UAE office, serving our regional clients.


As a Senior Manager, you will act as an IFRS technical subject matter expert (SME), helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to:


  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS – including an ability to review technical papers and engage in technical discussions with global industry experts and apply his critical thinking to provide our clients with high value and technically robust solutions.
  • Track record of reviewing complex technical accounting matters and coordinating with engagement teams and global technical experts on such matters.
  • Experience across a range of complex matters including revenue recognition, financial instruments, leasing, business combinations and control/ consolidation.
  • Build and maintain positive, productive and professional relationships with clients and colleagues. You will be expected to have significant interactions with senior company management teams, bankers, lawyers and other advisors typically involved in high profile regional transactions.
  • The candidate will be achievement oriented with the ability to be flexible and adaptive on a daily basis.

Education


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business studies, accounting or finance


Qualification(s)


  • {Mandatory to perform the role}:CA, ACA, ACCA, CPA


Experience


  • 10+ years of accounting experience in a Big 4 firm
  • 4+ years of experience in a technical accounting function within a Big 4 firm
