Job Description

Job Purpose: 


To manage and grow client business for the Energy & Natural Resources (ENR) sector and more particular in the Oil, Gas & New Energies (hydrogen, carbon capture utilisation & storage etc) and commodity trader space; improve service quality levels and supervise subordinates’ day-to-day activities and client interactions to ensure that the team’s objectives are constantly met and its revenue targets achieved, while maintaining client satisfaction and portfolio credit quality. The ENR team is part of FABs Investment Banking Group which covers the energy value chain including oil, gas & new energies, traditional and renewable power generation, metals & mining and commodity traders and team consists of sector specialists across the energy value chain. 


Key Accountabilies: 

Strategic Contribution:


  • Work with Sector Leads and Global Head of Energy & Natural Resources to develop the team’s strategy and business plan with the aim of increasing the Bank’s share of the target clients’ wallet and achieving target relationship returns.
  • Keep close interaction with Product teams, and other stakeholders, to maximise business opportunities with clients, and to streamline execution of deals and strategies.

People Management:


  • Contribute to talent development initiatives for the assigned department, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Act as a role model and drive adherence to organisational values and ethics by employees of the assigned department to foster a value driven culture within the Group.

Budgeting and Financial Planning:


  • Indirect P&L responsibility of the assigned portfolio, achieving targets within defined budget levels.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:


  • Manage and ensure effective implementation of the IB functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned department activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

Client and Market Analysis:


  • Fully informed regarding the latest developments in the Energy & Natural Resources space with a focus on Commodity Traders and Oil & Gas sectors. Be a sparring partner for clients and internal stakeholders;
  • Participate in the financial analysis conducted on clients and their respective industries in the Energy space  / markets to identify potential opportunities and risks.

Client Relationship Management:


  • Together with MDs and EDs originate new business opportunities with target Energy & Natural Resources clients across banking products.
  • Develop and execute Term Sheet, legal documentation, Information Memorandum, financial modelling, mandate letters etc.;
  • Examine & resolve credit, market and operational risk aspects of the transactions in collaboration with products and enablement units.
  • Pitch, review, negotiate and conclude deals.
  • Be an industry energy expert and advice clients on latest developments in primarily the Commodity Traders, Oil, Gas and New Energies/Clean energy space.
  • Maintain the credit quality of the clients relationships within the Portfolio to an acceptable level set by the Bank’s management.
  • Achieve individual and team financial performance targets.
  • Identify & develop cross selling opportunities and increase the cross-sell ratio with key clients in the energy space.
  • Ensure Account Plans are prepared and maintained for all key clients.
  • Ensure all clients’ files /documents are maintained.
  • Ensure all credit reviews are submitted on time and agreed conditions are met.
  • Maintain a satisfactory audit on the portfolio
  • Learning & Development – Attend appropriate on and off-the-job training programs and ensure development and skill upgradation of team members.
  • Ensure that all internal processes for existing portfolio and NTBs are met in line with the Bank’s policies & procedures.
  • Adhere to process KPI’s and, ORM, BCP & Internal Audit requirements

Day-to-Day Activities:


  • Assist the Global Head of Energy & Natural Resources in the day-to-day administrative and transactional activities to ensure continuity of work and the delivery of effective and high-quality outputs.
  • Manage and follow up on KYC and compliance requirements in order to ensure consistency with the Bank’s KYC and AML policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Follow all relevant policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • MIS and Reports:
  • Review and analyse financial statements, MIS and reports to keep track of performance vs. budgets

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Math; MBA is a preferred.

Minimum Experience:


  • The successful candidate will have worked in a bank, accounting/consultancy firm, preferably in an energy coverage role or an energy project finance and/or advisory team for a minimum of 4 years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:


  • Strong understanding of the energy sector
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; detail-oriented and accurate
  • Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities 
  • Familiarity with different financing structures corporate, PF, PXF, Borrowing Base Facilities etc.
  • Strong PPT and Excel skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Committed and dedicated team player, self-motivated high quality/high quantity producer
