Overview of the role


To co-ordinate all design information from Consultants / Specialist Contractors drawings and assist in the preparation of workshop drawings. Supervision and development of junior co-ordinators.


What you will be doing?


Design Coordination


  • Collate information from related Arch / Struct / MEP consultant’s drawings/ design calculations / RFI responses / EI / amendments advised by sub-contractors and incorporate them into the appropriate workshop drawings.
  • Check drawing development / presentation / accuracy of drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with the latest specifications and drawing standards.
  • Acts as the first contact person as design questions and issues arise in the field
  • Establishes design coordination meetings with suppliers / subcontractors and issue follow up notes.
  • Coordinate with vendors and assist Project consultant in material selection and detailed drawing development.
  • Liaise with procurement department during subcontract finalization for responding the technical queries from the Supply chain
  • Liaise with project commercial department for finalization of scope between trade contractors, especially finalize scope gap between trade contractors
  • Ensure all design information is current and coordinate with all trades having model deliverables for timely delivery of the project.
  • Creates project closeout documents as per project specifications and liaise with Project consultant for approval.

Efficiency


  • Plan and organize workload to meet project priorities.
  • Creates and manages lists of open decision items and put a timetable that decisions must be made within the time frame without delaying the project schedule.
  • Establishes design coordination meetings with suppliers / subcontractors and issue follow up notes.
  • Demonstrate ability to work unsupervised but also highlight issues to senior design staff.
  • Resolve issues and coordination of information to meet required timescales and site activities raising RFIs as necessary.

Communication Skills


  • Demonstrate good written and oral skills.
  • Interact with Senior / Junior staff / Client / Site Team to provide appropriate feedback (meetings, advance info etc).
  • Communicate with vendors and assists Project consultant in material selection and detailed drawing development.
  • Show ability to manage workload with subordinate staff.

Technical Knowledge


  • Extensive knowledge and experience with a variety of computer applications, including, but not limited to: AutoCAD, MS Office, Photoshop.
  • Demonstrate ability to visualize in 3D.
  • Understand the requirements and ability to read Consultants / Sub contractors drawings.
  • Raise RFI’s / highlighting areas left uncoordinated by the Consultants / Sub contractors.
  • Understand different disciplines within the construction team and reflect this in the way coordination problems are resolved.
  • Develop an understanding of electronic document management system.
  • Understand the requirements of a collaboration system and how it will benefit the design department.

What qualifies you for the role


  •  Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of UAE experience in a similar role.
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Ability to raise queries/RFI’s on a regular basis
  • Ability to work effectively with Design Management teams
