Doha International Airport is the only commercial airport in Qatar. It contains three mosques, free Wi-Fi, a huge duty free, some restaurants and 44 airline stands.
Its current capacity is of 12 million passengers per year. Both Qatar Duty Free and Doha International Airport are operated and managed by Qatar Airways which is expanding quite rapidly.
People living or working in Qatar should know that the existing airport will be replaced in late 2009 or early 2010 when the first phase of New Doha International Airport is expected to open.

Tourist visas
Visa on arrival is available for the residents of 33 countries including USA , Britain , France , Italy , Germany , Canada , Australia , New Zealand , Japan , Netherlands , Belgium , Luxemburg , Switzerland , Austria , Sweden , Norway , Denmark , Portugal , Ireland , Greece , Finland , Spain , Monaco , The Vatican, Iceland , Andorra , San Marino, Liechtenstein , Brunei , Singapore , Malaysia , Hong Kong , and South Korea .
The tourist visa is valid for two weeks, and can be extended for another 2 weeks, however, a hotel booking or the presence of relatives (along with their address and funds of 5000 QAR) in Qatar is a must. Tourist visas can also be arranged by Qatar Airways.
Longer tourist visas are also available but should be obtained in advance. For details, applicants are advised to contact the Qatari Embassy in their country of residence.
Work Visas
Work visas are valid for expatriates for a period of one to three months. Once in the country, an expatriate employee who has found a job in Qatar will require a resident’s permit that is normally arranged by his employer.
Visit Visas
People working in Qatar have the right to sponsor their family or relatives for 6 months maximum. The initial stay would be for one month that can be renewable (to up to 6 months, except in the case of wife and children, where it can be renewed for up to one year).
