The Applied Science Private University
Establishment and History of the University: The Applied Science Private University is located in Shafa Badran District within the borders of Greater Amman Mayoralty. It is built on a 356,000 square meter area.
The university is affiliated with the International Arab Company for Education and Investment. Study in the university started on 19.10.1991 after it was licensed on 10.7.1989. The number of students enrolled then was 396 male and female students with three faculties: Arts, Science, and Economics and 14 majors.
The university now comprises nine faculties: Arts and Humanities, Law, Economics and Administrative Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, Information Technology, Nursing, Fine Art and Design, and Paramedical Science. There are 30 bachelor majors taught by these faculties and Master programs in Accountancy, Marketing, International Relations and Diplomatic Studies, Pharmacy, and Computer Science. The university has a deanship for student affairs and a deanship for scientific research and higher studies.
There are 8,000 male and female students now enrolled in the university. These belong to 45 Arab, Islamic and foreign countries. In the academic year 2012 – 2013, the university had 277 teaching staff members, of whom 208 are Ph.D. degree holders. It has sponsored 78 scholars who study for the Ph.D. degree in U.S., Canadian, British, Australian and other universities.
