DHL Exel Supply Chain (Exel Saudi Arabia) in Saudi Arabia to manage all in-Kingdom distribution to support the worlds number 1 oil producer. DHL Exel Supply Chain (Exel Saudi Arabia) has been awarded an initial 8+ year contract by Saudi Aramco to undertake management of the oil giants in-kingdom supply chain. The agreement underlines Saudi Aramco’s endorsement of DHL Exel Supply Chain as the partner of choice for oil and gas specific contract logistics solutions. Saudi Aramco’s requirements will be managed through an operations control tower based in the Eastern province offering best in class vendor and carrier management with four purpose built facilities to support consolidation and distribution around the kingdom. The solution was tailored to Saudi Aramco requirement, offering supply chain visibility around managed transports intelligent collection and distribution framework. The contract starts in January 2007, the transition from implementation to steady state will be controlled using DHL Exel project management methodology and the creation of an Exel-Saudi Aramco project team. The pilot team will be located at Aramco’s facility in Dhahran before transitioning to the full control tower at a purpose built facility in Dammam. DHL Exel is part of the German Deutsche Post World Net family of companies. The recent purchase of Exel into the DHL group has produced the largest logistics company in the world with over 500,000 employees globally.
