About Asian Football Confederation

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body for football in Asia. Comprising 45 national associations with a population of 3.6 billion people, AFC is the most populous of FIFA's six football governing bodies world-wide. AFC is a non-profit organisation, with responsibilities for the administration and development of Asia's number one sport. From Lebanon to Japan, Saudi Arabia to Singapore, India to Vietnam, AFC's 45 member associations demonstrate the vast diversity of the Asian continent. Launched in 2002, AFC's far reaching development program, Vision Asia, was initiated to increase the standard of Asian football in all areas of the game, including marketing, media, coach education, refereeing, youth development, grassroots and other disciplines. Vision Asia aims to improve performance within the 45 national associations both on and off the pitch. In addition to development, AFC runs a professional competition platform, including the flagship event for national teams, Asian Cup, and the continent's premier club competition, AFC Champions League. AFC is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The headquarters, AFC House, is an international environment, with employees from many Asian countries and several consultants from Europe.
