About BP Egypt

Our company has been involved in the Egyptian oil and gas industry for 40 years. Until recently, our main area of activity was the Gulf of Suez where GUPCO (our joint venture with EGPC) has produced over 4.5 billion barrels of oil since the late 1960s. While we continue to be active as a major oil producer in the Gulf of Suez and in the Western Desert, over the last few years we have also built our position as one of the main players in the new phase of Egypt’s hydrocarbon industry, the development of a world scale gas business in the offshore Nile Delta. We continue to produce oil as cheaply, safely and efficiently as possible, applying new technologies to improve recovery from existing fields and to enhance the commerciality of new discoveries. At the same time, our gas business is set to expand. While current gas production is devoted to the domestic market, our goal is to play a key role in the development of an export market based on LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). We also plan to develop our business in NGLs (Natural Gas Liquids). Across the globe, BP is committed to contributing to the development of the communities in which we work. Here in Egypt, our Social Investment Programme focuses on four main areas: Culture, Education, Environment, Heath & Charity. Through several programmes in these areas, we strive to give back to Egypt. In all that we do we are committed to follow the policies on ethical conduct, employee relations, external relations, HSE, and control and finance that apply to all BP activities around the world. We are determined to show that a business can be a force for good as well as a commercial success, and we strive to live up to our aspiration of no accidents, no harm to people, no damage to the environment
