Dubai Technology Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA), a Government Company & Regulatory Authority that is mandated to enable development of Dubai Economy through Free Zone by providing companies with free zone status, a cluster environment, infrastructure, and a business-friendly environment for Dubai’s Technology and Media Free Zones. DTMFZA was established in 2000 to promote Dubai as a globally competitive hub for knowledge-based industries and thereby drive Dubai’s sustainable growth by developing and operating free zone business parks dedicated to these industries. Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone began with the launch of Dubai Internet City in October 2000, to support and develop the Information & Communication Technology (ICT) sector. Dubai Media City for the media cluster, and Dubai Knowledge Village for the education cluster, were set up in January 2001 and October 2003, respectively. The phenomenal success of the cluster model led to a rapid expansion of the Free Zone into other knowledge-based industries and The Free Zone now includes a total of 10 business parks , each operating as a distinct entity. DTMFZA is also regulating designated areas for schools owned by Knowledge fund e.g., Repton School, GEMS School and Designated areas owned by other master developer e.g., ABYAAR, GGICO,ARENCO and manage other Dubai Holding Developments e.g. Multiple Dubai land projects, Business Bay, Culture Village, Mirdiff Shrooq and Mirdiff Gharoob. DTMFZA is the only Free Zone Authority in Dubai that is empowered to issue licenses for a number of business segments that are instrumental to the success of Dubai including radio and TV broadcasting, outsourcing, schools, higher education, biotechnology, multi-specialty Hospital and clinical care, classified hotels, freelancers and Non-Profit Industry Associations.
