Egyptian Drilling Company is Egypt's largest drilling contractor, providing high quality drilling services onshore and offshore. Operating a rig fleet of more than 30 units, EDC is today the largest oil and gas service provider in the Middle East, with operations in Syria and Saudi Arabia in addition to the operations in Egypt. EDC was formed in 1976 as a joint venture between the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and the A.P.Moller Group of Denmark. EGPC is Egypt's national petroleum corporation, overseeing oil and gas exploration, production, refining, marketing and distribution with the country. A.P.Moller is Denmark's largest corporation, with activities in shipping, industrial goods and services, oil and gas exploration and production.The drilling division, Maersk Contractors, is among the ten leading drilling contractors worldwide. The combined strengths of both parent companies have contributed to EDC's rise to become the Middle East leader within drilling for oil and gas.
