ESO was founded in March 2004 by Omanis representing different regions and many different professional backgrounds who have come together to conserve Oman's natural heritage in order for future generations to enjoy our unique environment and ecosystems. Our aims are; 1)To help educate and to raise awareness of environmental issues, 2)To enable the public to become actively involved in conservation by organising participatory events, 3)To provide a forum for exchange of ideas and information related to the human and natural environment of Oman, 4)To foster co-operation between government, NGO's and the private sector to promote conservation of Oman's human and natural environment, 5)To carry out field research of Oman's human and natural environment in order to help provide the necessary information for conservation initiatives.

The Environment Society of Oman aims for environmental conservation through education, awareness and advocacy
