Hikma is a multinational pharmaceutical group of companies producing high quality pharmaceutical products in finished dosage forms. Hikma has a long-standing history of leadership as a key player in the pharmaceutical market in the MENA (Middle East North Africa) region dating back to the seventies. Hikma has four major facilities that operate in its core area of business: Hikma Pharmaceuticals (Jordan), Hikma Farmaceutica (Portugal), West-ward (USA), and Jazeera Pharmaceutical Industries (Saudi Arabia). In 1995, Hikma became the first and only Arab pharmaceutical company to obtain the prestigious and stringent US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval to sell some of its products in the US. Hikma was also the first Arab pharmaceutical company to obtain the British Medicines and Health Care Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) approval to sell some of its products in the United Kingdom in 1996. Hikma Pharmaceuticals (Jordan) has three different production facilities: *General formulation plant established in 1978. *Sterile formulation plant established in 1984. *Penicillin formulation plant established in 1988. Hikma Pharmaceuticals currently holds licensing agreements with leading international pharmaceutical companies allowing it to manufacture and distribute certain products exclusively in the MENA region Hikma Pharmaceuticals has a large integrated team of marketing personnel and medically qualified scientific officers located in more than 20 offices worldwide who sell products through a network of distributors.
