About IECD

« Institut Européen de Coordination et de Développement » (IECD (www.iecd.org) is a non-governmental organization created in 1988, whose mission is recognized by the French State. IECD implements projects of socio-economic development, in partnership with local institutions. It is especially working in the fields of vocational training and professional integration, support to small businesses and access to education and health for vulnerable populations. Seeds of Hope project After several opportunity studies in Egypt, IECD has launched its flagship project Seeds of Hope in 2013, a Training & Professional Integration project for the youth, implemented in partnership with Don Bosco institutes in Cairo and Alexandria. ‘’Seeds of Hope’’ promotes youth access to employment through vocational training in electrotechnics and aims to give the youth means to access a valued and permanent job. It places companies at the heart of its approach: they are involved in the development of the program to adjust the training to their real needs and to promote the placement of students. Today, the program is ongoing in Lebanon, Morocco and Nigeria. In Egypt, Seeds of Hope is funded in partnership with Schneider Electric, and the French Agency for Development (Agence Française de Développement - AFD). Seeds of Hope Program is structured around 5 main pillars: 1. Improvement of the curricula by updating contents, to answer the needs of the private sector 2. Renovation and equipment of the schools’ labs, with products and solutions tailored to the reality of the industry 3. Training of teachers to reinforce pedagogical and technical skills 4. Provide support and guidance for students by enhancing/creating a Guidance and Employment Office, and promoting immersion in real work situations (internships, apprenticeship) 5. Promote Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Egypt by organizing Job Forums and Communication campaigns
