Info2cell is a value added service (VAS) provider in the Middle East. A subsidiary of the publicly traded Acotel Group, Info2cell is the leading provider of SMS, MMS, WAP and Data within the MENA region, providing services to over 40 operators. It is headquartered in Dubai, with branches in Amman and Riyadh. Info2cell was founded in 1998 with its headquarters in Dubai, UAE. In 1999 Info2cell opened a branch in Amman, Jordan, and in 2000 it began a partnership with BBC. In November of the same year, Info2cell sold a 33% stake to the Italy-based global telecommunications company Acotel. In 2001, following the development of GSM EDGE technology, Info2cell expanded its services to include MMS and WAP content. Around this time Acotel acquired the remaining 70% of Info2cell, and the company remains a subsidiary of the Italian conglomerate. Info2cell broke into the Saudi market in 2004 when it launched the Abwab Portal for KSA operator STC. Shortly after, it launched a mobile portal for Qtel in Qatar. In 2005, Pepsi Co. commissioned Info2cell to develop a Ramadan question-and-answer campaign contest. In 2009, Info2cell established Rawafed based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It serves as a sister company to Info2cell, providing similar VAS services within KSA. Around this time, it underwent a major data migration process, shifting its servers from Dubai to Amman.
