The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international Catholic organisation with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced people. JRS undertakes direct and personal services at national and regional levels without discrimination of race, gender, religion, nationality. It is supported by the international Office in Rome. Founded: November 1980 as a work of the Society of Jesus/Jesuits.
Our dream is a world free from frontiers, divisions and forcible displacement, where people can move freely and securely – where the value of hospitality is extended to everyone without discrimination. To bring some relief especially to the forgotten and marginalized inspired by the example of Jesus and his compassion and love for the poor. To engage with people of all races, cultures and religions in an open and respectful way promoting hope and reconciliation.
