Panda forms the Retail Division of the Savola group of companies. With their head office based in Jeddah, the Savola group also has the following divisions: edible oils, sugar, packaging, and a non-managed division with major interests in several large local companies. Savola is listed on the KSA stock exchange and is among the ten largest companies in the Kingdom. Panda is the largest Food Retailer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and operates a national chain of 60 supermarkets and and hypermarkets. Head office is situated in Jeddah. Also, the business development, purchasing and marketing functions are based in Jeddah. Panda is the only national supermarket chain that is represented in all regions of Saudi Arabia. The company has a very aggressive expansion strategy. Integral to the expansion plans is the establishment of a chain of hypermarkets with the first one already opened in Riyadh region, in 2004. Panda has ambitious plans to continue its leadership of the sector while profitably growing its market share. In support of Panda's objective to increase market share, the company is expanding its business from predominantly groceries and fresh foods to a larger range of general merchandise. This expanded range will support the organisation’s move into larger hypermarket store formats.
