WARBA was established on 24.10.76 as a Kuwait Shareholding Company and commenced commercial operations in 1977. The main objectives of the company are to underwrite all classes of insurance, reinsurance and related investment activities. The company has been recognised as one of the National Insurance companies in Kuwait, which enabled them to get an equal share to Government related business on automatic basis. The major shares of Warba were held by the Government of Kuwait until 1998. In view of the privatization move by the Government of Kuwait, the shares were disinvested and presently the major shares are owned by leading business groups with a vision to place Warba on a plateau in the millennium.
