Quantity Surveyor Job

b>Main Purpose of Job:
• Support Project Sales and Bid Administrator by transforming project measurements into quantities & man days and assigning related costs.

Basic Functions & Scope:
• Convert project measurements into quantity of products, material, manpower and accordingly assign related costs.

Communications:
With Bid Admin, Measurer and Sales staff.

Authorities:
• Assigning costing to bids or tenders (projects) as per pre set costing tables.

Essential Work Activities:
• Convert project measurement/bill of quantity and technical specification into quantity of products. Material and manpower.
• Verify computed quantities against project maps and/or tender documents.
• Assign project cost of product, material and manpower according to pre set costing tables and analysis.
• Provide Bid Administer and project sales officer with project quantity cost for pricing the bid or tender.
• Coordinate with finance to develop costing tables for new product and material.
• Prepare monthly bills and payment certificates for Owners/Subcontractors.

Head of QS Job - Regency Group Holding

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

• Prepares various Quantity Surveying documents including budgetary estimates at different design stages, Bill of Quantities for all disciplines and Costs Estimates.
• Liaises with Project Directors and manages tender procedures and prepare Tender Reports.
• Prepares award of contracts, checks contract documents as well as makes recommendations of contractor’s evaluations.
• Provides assistance to Project Managers on contractual issues.
• Evaluates variations & Claims and handles contractual correspondences.
• Attends progress meetings and provides updates Client with projection of costs as required.
• Prepares evaluations/ cost projections / advise for projects under construction in coordination with the supervision department to meet requirements of works in progress
• Liaises with contractors to advise on requirements of contract
• Inspects site for collation of information for monthly statement which includes but not limited to recommendation on interim payments, statement of claims from contractors, anticipated claims from contractors and assessment of costs of works and expected final cost.
• Communicates with the supervision team to obtain/ record information related to claims/variations.
• Performs cost analysis and draw up reports on changes to works and contractor’s claims.
• Assists the Project Manager to prepare and approve contractor’s final accounts.
• Finalizes the Final Account of projects.
• Takes on primarily post-contract quantity surveying duties.
• Mentors and leads the team of quantity surveyors, and give the proper technical guidance to them. Controlling their attendance and signing the time sheets Responsible for following up day to day business activities and assigning the work to the individuals, monitoring their production.
• Controlling the quality of the department services and working on enhancing and continuously developing the individuals and department capabilities.
• Adopting new softwares and methodologies to enhance the production of the department, and in coordination with the other design softwares used in the office like CAD and REVIT.
• Assists in any contracts administration duties related to QS.
Functional Relationships

Internal:
• Confers with PCS - GM on necessary procedures and accuracy of costing and estimates
• Works with Project Directors on Tender issues.

External:
• Liaises with contractors and Clients to get the most accurate costs and requirements.

Experience / Qualification

• Must have a Degree of Bsc in Quantity Surveying, as a minimum
• Must be MRICS
• At least minimum 15 years in similar capacity
