Accounting Manager
VoTech School in Saudi

We are seeking an Accounting Manager for a newly established Institute for Vocational and Technical Training in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Job Description

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department and ensuring that all accounting transactions are in line with Company goals and objectives, in conformity with local and US generally accepted accounting principles, complying with government regulations and compliance with Corporate and local covenant obligations. Prior experience with a multi-national corporation is required. The successful candidate should also have excellent communication, planning, problem solving and decision making skills and be able to make a real contribution to the overall financial operation. The Accounting Manager reports to the Executive Director. This position will also work with the Regional Controller and Corporate Director to aid in the understanding of the business, accounting records, and periodic performance of this Institution.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

•Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of Accounting transactions and accounting reports as requested.
•Provides management with accurate and timely information necessary to understand the financial operation of the company from an accounting perspective.
•Contributes to safeguard the Company’s assets.
•Reviews and approves all accounting activities including account reconciliations, journal entries and its allocation into the financial statement analysis.
•Ensure this Institution closes their books on a local GAAP and US GAAP basis each month within the Corporate close calendar.
•Develop a detailed understanding of the account balances and activity and summarize the information for management
•Supports all monthly, quarterly and year-end closings including the year-end audit and the preparation of internal Operating Statements of the Company and external Consolidated and Consolidating Financial Statements of the Company both for Saudi Arabian and US GAAP reporting purposes.
•Defines areas of responsibility and training requirements for subordinates consistent with job responsibility.
•Assures that a positive employee relations position is maintained. Assures that effective communications is maintained within areas of responsibility. Conducts employee discussions at regular and frequent intervals.
•Ensures optimum performance of the accounting function.
•Keeps abreast of current accounting trends and practices within the company.
•Assumes other special assignments from the Executive Director.

Required Skills

•Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills and ability to effectively present information in an accurate and timely manner.
•Ability to develop and implement efficient and effective accounting processes and procedures, internal controls, and procedure manuals.
•Ability to define problems, collect, and analyze data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
•Well-developed oral and written communication skills
•Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in written and oral form in English and Arabic. Command of French language is highly valued.
•Minimum of 5 years’ progressive accounting management experience, at least 3 years as an Accounting Manager or controller in a US GAAP environment.
•A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, a CPA, CMA or equivalent is preferred.
•Thorough knowledge of Excel as well as computerized accounting systems is required.
•This position regularly meets with auditors, attorneys and other professionals as well as managers of all levels of management.
•Proven ability to work in a culturally diverse context, especially supervising senior staff of different nationalities.
•Prior work experience in the Middle East is an asset.
