General Manager - New Venture / Middle East

Position:

Reporting to a Board of Directors, the role will lead the start-up, consolidation and subsequent management of a new Dnata ground handling business in the Middle East. Employing approximately 300 staff, the business will be a start up operation for Dnata however is expected to integrate both manpower and equipment from incumbent airport operators. Accountabilities will include: delivering a safe, secure, customer focused ground handling service in accordance with Dnata policies and procedures and the requirements of client Airlines; developing and delivering the business strategy; setting and achieving budgetary and financial targets in liaison with Dnata International management at HQ; developing and managing relationships with Government, Airport Authorities, border agencies and other relevant regulatory authorities while also managing the entire Dnata team.

Dnata is selectively expanding its Airport Ground Handling operations around the Middle East, North Africa, and across Asia. These roles will form the leadership team of a new and exciting venture in Middle East. Applicants should express their interest in their preferred role.

Dnata is seeking expressions of interest from executives who possess ground handling experience. Terminal management experience will also be highly desirable. Most importantly candidates must have demonstrable leadership qualities and a record of success in the aviation industry, along with energy and commercial acumen to ensure the highest possible service standards are met.

Skills

Experience and Qualifications:

University graduate in a business discipline with 10 years experience in ground handling / cargo / airline / travel industry, of which a minimum of 5 years in a managerial level.

Possess a drive and determination to deliver unparalleled standards of service within a difficult operating environment

Fluency in both written and spoken English are essential

Must have extensive experience across a broad range of Airline disciplines with an in-depth understanding of professional, governmental and legal compliance requirements at a local and international level.

Must possess excellent people management skills, with highly effective communication and negotiation skills that can be applied and related to a broad range of audiences from senior Government officials to junior staff within the Dnata organisation.

Team player but with the ability to think and act independently.
