Company Profile

Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) is the Nuclear Energy Program Implementation Organization (NEPIO) for the United Arab Emirates. ENEC is working with the guidance of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and will be governed by the UAE's independent nuclear regulator. It was established following an assessment by the government that nuclear energy was a viable and compelling potential solution to the nation's energy supply challenges.

ENEC's responsibilities include the promotional and preparatory activities required to facilitate the deployment of peaceful civil nuclear power in the UAE, incorporating the development of plans for the program, the performance of relevant feasibility studies, and the development of non-regulatory infrastructure. ENEC is also responsible for developing effective public information and stakeholder engagement programs.Following the potential establishment of a domestic nuclear power program, ENEC would be the investment arm of the Government that - in collaboration with foreign partners - would specialize in the deployment, ownership and operation of nuclear power plants within the UAE, while making strategic investments in the nuclear sector, both domestically and internationally.

The Government has published the Policy of the United Arab Emirates on the Evaluation and Potential Development of Peaceful Nuclear Energy, which outlines the government's fundamental principles for its work in this area. Also included for review is Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, a summary of Abu Dhabi's urban planning initiative.
