Purpose and Scope:

Plans and establishes preventive and major maintenance activities including overhaul scheduled maintenance and resources for all mechanical plant and equipments in assigned field. Includes establishing maintenance frequency; establishing and standardizing materials, spares, equipment and tools required for cost effective maintenance work; initiating procurement of supplies and ensuring availability of economical stock levels; directing and participating in the compilation of competent plant and equipment maintenance data for review and analysis to establish reliability, ensure availability of equipment, investigate and prevent recurring problems. Raises/ reviews plant modifications and liaises with operations and engineering personnel to ensure acceptance and timely implementation of related projects. Provides expert advise to operations on maintenance issues related to mechanical plant and equipment. Prepares scope of work for all mechanical maintenance contracts. Reviews and comments on the mechanical aspects of all engineering projects undertaken in assigned field including preparation of statement of requirements, reviewing scope of work, technical specification, tender document, conceptual, basic and detailed engineering design packages. Participates in commissioning, start up and handover activities and comments on the maintainability of new plant and equipment. Assess suitability of new equipment/technology and witnesses their trials. Liaises with the Work Planning personnel on timely updating of related equipment in the 3Ms system in assigned field. Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe, timely, efficient and cost effective manner to maximize plant availability to meet production/injection /export targets.

Accountabilities:

- Plans preventive maintenance requirements and frequencies for all major mechanical plant and equipment. Includes work required, standard procedures and resources. Determines frequency guided by manufacturer recommendation, ADCO experience and equipment operating history.
- Plans and supervises the execution of all major overhaul work on mechanical plant and equipment. Includes:
- Liaises with other engineers, maintenance and operations personnel to identify and include other maintenance, inspection and modification work during shutdown.
- Establishes maintenance scope of work, material specifications, engineering standards and completion time schedule.
- Reviews tender and contract documents related to shutdown and major overhaul. Participates in technical and commercial evaluation of bids and recommendation of successful bidder.
- Monitors maintenance and modification work carried out by contractor and address problems/queries, as required.
- Provides specialist engineering input on scope of work and specifications.
- Reviews contractor progress reports and advises on corrective actions to be taken to ensure original completion dates are met.
- Endorses variation orders within the scope of his discipline and authority limits.
- Prepares scope of work for all mechanical maintenance contracts.
- Represents Maintenance Department on Engineering projects with mechanical engineering contents undertaken in assigned field.
- Reviews scope of work, technical specifications to ensure compatibility and maintainability of new plant and equipment.
- Reviews and comments on conceptual, basic and detailed design packages.
- Attends commissioning and start up activities of new plant and equipment and comments on their maintainability.
- Ensure timely receipt of manufacturers maintenance manuals, sets maintenance frequencies, related standard procedures and liaises with Work Planning personnel to update 3Ms with related details accordingly.
- Reviews SPIRs and commissioning spares
- Carries out ongoing engineering maintenance studies to justify replacements, modifications, or additions to plant and equipment. This includes:

• Time scale is realistic and entails minimum interruption to normal operations.
• Comments on tender and contract documents are submitted on time; with sound technical comments and commercial analysis
• Timely follow up with contractor, to resolve problems/queries quickly and effectively.
• Interpret salient engineering issues in the project scope to avoid undue disputes and claims.
• Original completion dates are not exceeded.
• Observes delegation of authority limits.
• Engineering projects are compatible with maintenance and operations requirements
• Proper feedback from project team and other colleagues in maintenance and operations.
• Good understanding/appreciation of engineering design packages.
• Preparation of accurate reports highlighting anticipated maintenance and operations snags.
• Maintenance routines, procedures and frequencies are identified and updated on time.
• Commissioning & 2 year spares accounted for.
• Problems anticipated and resolved on time; replacement/modification requirements are identified.
• Efficient and cost effective solutions are recommended with minimum interruptions to operations.
• Proper feedback from colleagues in operations.
• Engineering requirements are clear and delivered on time
• Costs are within approved budgets and realistic implementation schedule.
• Accurate assessment of operating expenditure.

Company Profile

ADCO, the largest crude oil producer in the southern Arabian Gulf, undertakes exploration, drilling, production and export activities in Abu Dhabi's onshore areas, and the shallow coastal waters. The original concession agreement was signed in January 1939 with Petroleum Development (Trucial Coast). In 1962 the company became known as the Abu Dhabi Petroleum Company Ltd. (ADPC), and later became the Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) in 1978.The company operates on behalf of ADNOC and six industry shareholders and produces oil mainly from five fields: Asab, Bab, Bu Hasa, Sahil and Shah. These fields are linked by more than 450 kilometers of pipeline network to the storage and shipping facilities located at Jabel Dhanna, where tankers load crude oil for export to markets in many parts of the world. Oil production comes also from four other oil fields: Jarn Yaphore, Al Dabb iya, Rumaitha and Shanayel but as early production phase.
