Senior Consultant - Business Risk Services
As a BRS Senior, you'll make a technical contribution to BRS client engagements and internal projects. Within your role, you'll actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships and identify and escalate potential business opportunities for Ernst & Young on existing engagements. With a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks, you'll escalate issues as appropriate. Working closely with colleagues, you'll determine whether the work plan is properly executed, documented and concluded in compliance with our Quality & Risk Management guidelines.
Job purpose
Your main objective is to lead and coordinate the fieldwork team in an effective and efficient manner on a day-to-day basis. Ensure that sufficient audit evidence is gathered and correctly documented to support the audit findings, in accordance with firm's standards, engagement objectives, client history and planned audit approach.
Your client responsibilities
• Identify and realise opportunities and ideas to provide value to the client.
• Maintain a professional attitude to client needs, responding on a timely basis to clients' requests.
• Secure and enhance client relationships with the appropriate level and present a favourable impression of the firm.
• Ensure that client's requests are acted upon efficiently and on a timely basis and the engagement team meets the client expectations.
• Develop and maintain an appropriate external network of business contacts.
• Demonstrate professionalism and competence in the clients' environment.
• Ensure all client deliverables are prepared on a timely basis to a high technical standard and presentational quality (including draft financial statements, management letters, business review memorandums and other client communications).
• Communicate and share all client and engagement knowledge with all the engagement team on a timely basis.
• Stay informed of relevant technical, business and environmental developments.
Your people responsibilities:
• Develop skills and knowledge of the people in your team and live the firms shared culture and values at all times.
• Coach and mentor less experienced professionals.
• Understand the skill set of the engagement team and ensures that the individual team members are allocated sufficiently challenging work.
• Appraise team member performance in a constructive and timely manner.
• Live our shared cultures and values at all times and encourages team members to do the same.
• Review work of team members (where applicable) on a timely basis and in a thorough and constructive manner.
• Ensure that the engagement manager and partner are informed about important audit or accounting issues on a timely basis.
• Work with practice support (financial) staff to coordinate work-in-progress, billing and collection processes.
Day to day responsibilities:
• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of internal audit techniques and standards.
• Develop work plans/budgets, set out expectations, determine resource requirements, and supervise engagements to ensure timely delivery of quality products to clients.
• Ensure that sufficient audit evidence is gathered and correctly documented to support the audit report.
• Review work of team members (where applicable) on a timely basis and in a thorough and constructive manner.
• On a daily basis you should provide and demonstrate value to clients and meet/exceed the client's expectations.
• Ensure that the engagement manager and partner are informed about important audit issues on a timely basis.
• Execute appropriate use of electronic working papers, tools and sources of knowledge.
• Identify areas for improvement, including client satisfaction, process and technology.
Skills
Technical skills requirements
You'll have knowledge and experience of a number of the following areas:
• Understanding of effective governance, processes and controls
• Experience of risk assessment, mitigation and remediation
• Knowledge of business process, operational process and process analysis
• Experience of: internal audit, IIA, COSO, data analytics, computer assisted audit techniques (CAATs), continuous control monitoring (CCM), financial statements, SOX, 404, internal controls, financial reporting, fraud and IFRS
We are looking for candidates with the following:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Someone who is qualified CIA, CPA, ACCA, CA or CFE or significantly close to getting a qualification will be an advantage.
• Have a minimum of three years experience in risk advisory service line in a reputable firm or in a reputable organisation.
• Experience of managing a team that delivers solutions to clients, and managing a budget.
• A mature and flexible personality and the ability to build and work with teams.
• Experience in a Big Four professional services firm would be an advantage.
