Job Description

Primary Objectives: To ensure the timely and accurate reporting of analytical results to clients through sound analysis and correct QC interpretation
Position Duties and Scope:

The Chemist is responsible for:
• Ensuring that analytical procedures and associated tasks for which they are responsible are conducted in accordance with the Laboratories Quality Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies.
• Ensuring that all tasks and analyses are performed within the timeframe set down by the Senior Chemist and the relevant analysis standard.
• Ensure turnaround times and productivity levels are met.
• The reporting of results as required by the Senior Chemist.
• Highlighting comment on anomalies in results, sample type and sample behaviour to the Senior Chemist.
• Calibrating equipment as required by the Senior Chemist and the laboratories quality procedures.
• Controlling consumable stock required for the tasks performed.
• Performing housekeeping duties as required.
• Other duties, as requested, relating to this position.



Quality Responsibilities: The Chemist has the following quality responsibilities:
• To ensure that all analysis and duties are performed in accordance with ALS Arabia quality procedures.
• To ensure that only calibrated equipment used and instrument maintenance is up to date.
Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities: The Chemist has the following safety responsibilities:
• To be familiar with the safety requirements as set out in the safety manual.
• To have a knowledge of and comply with the company safety policy.
• To notify and/or rectify any unsafe practice acknowledged by any member of staff.

Skills

The Chemist should possess:
• B.Sc (Chemistry) or equivalent, Diploma (Chemistry)
• Excellent computer skills
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment...
• Previous laboratory experience - preferable.

Education

B.Sc (Chemistry) or equivalent, Diploma (Chemistry)

About This Company

ALS is establishing a full service laboratory testing facility in Saudi Arabia via a joint venture with a local business partner, Maamel - called ALS Arabia. This enterprise will construct a number of commercial laboratories within the Kingdom to provide services to the Environmental, Mining, Oil & Gas and Food industries within Saudi Arabia and the other Gulf States.
