Job Description

Reporting to :
Operations Manager

Job Summary :
Supervise, control and ensure that all chemical plant maintenance and laboratory activities are accomplished in accordance with authorized plans, procedures, schedules, cost budgeted and quality standards.

Roles & Responsibilities :
1 Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the plant running condition and chemical dosing.
Maintain appropriate record of chemical plant activities.
2 To observe and guide the implementation of work safety procedure and practice.
3 Direct the implementation of established maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure effective chemical plant operation. Establish and initiate the annual and preventive maintenance of chemical plant.
4 Review and recommend new plans, procedures and schedule for chemical plants, acid cleaning, boil out and laboratory etc.
5 Prepare reports and appropriate recommendation to superior, to help evaluate progress and take appropriate action.
6 Supervise, direct and co-ordinate the activities of all Engineers and other personnel assigned to Chemical Section.
7 To ensure availability of bulk chemicals, fine chemicals,glasswares and other consumables and to raise Purchase Requisitions as and when required.
8 Ensure availability of MSDS for chemicals
9 Ensure calibration of identified critical equipment in the lab
10 Conduct frequent measurement of water quality in the lab and report deviations, if identified
11 Monitor and report stack emission
12 Ensure availability of suitable PPE, eyewash facility, first aid measures in the chemical handling area
13 Ensure proper waste disposal measures
14 Perform other duties as assigned


Required Skills

1. Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management system principles
2. Knowledge of applicable legal requirements
3. Hazard Risk assessment
4. Aspect Impact assessment
5. Knowledge of environmental and health impact of chemicals being used in the plant
6. Should be well conversed with Power/Desalination Operational activities in Chemical Lab.
7. Decision making.
8. Analytical.
9. Team work.

Desired certification / Job specific skill / Training SAP working knowledge is preferred. ISO9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 awareness/working knowledge is preferred.

.Educational Desired
Post graduation in Chemistry.
Preferred Post graduation in Chemistry with environmental and safety qualification.

Minimum Experience (Type and duration):
Minimum 12 years in Power/Desalination plant.
Preferable Experience in Middle East
