    ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

    Job Description

    Basic Functions

    • Leads and Supervises the electrical section in maintenance related jobs, provides assistance in trouble shooting, issues reports on major failures and recommends suitable actions to minimize or eliminate recurrence of the problems, formulates preventive maintenance schedules and associated procedures and checklists, formulates training program for electrical technicians.

    • Overall 24 hours per day, every day, responsibility.

    • Develops training materials and other quality documentation.


    Organizational Relationships

    • Reports to the Operations Manager on a daily basis.

    • Responsible for Electrical Technicians.

    • Working relationships with all the Production Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer and Shift Supervisors.


    Duties & Responsibilities

    Planning & Organizing

    • Plans and prepares periodical preventative maintenance schedule at the beginning of each year and carries out duties mentioned therein in coordination with Production Engineer.

    • Leads and Supervises electrical section in maintenance related activities and ensures that maintenance practices are carried out in accordance with accepted standard and industrial norms.



    • Oversees in trouble-shooting complex electrical problems and failures by working closely with his team whenever required. Assists in trouble shooting of problems of unknown cause, i.e. could be electrical, mechanical, process raw materials, etc.

    • Issues reports on major problems and failures, suggests suitable corrective actions to minimize or prevent recurrence of the problem.

    • Formulates preventive maintenance schedule with associated procedures and checklists, periodically reviews the programs to evaluate its efficiency and suitably makes changes to the schedule and procedures, if necessary, based on feedback and field experience.

    • Carries out stage and final inspection of repair jobs done by contractors either on site or in their facilities outside, evaluate their procedures and competency and witnesses the necessary tests before acceptance.

    • Keeps abreast with contemporary technology and maintenance practices and suggests up-gradation/modifications with the aim of improving reliability and maintainability, reducing maintenance costs, enhancing quality and safety.

    • Formulates training program and develops training materials.

    • Develops sectional craft quality manuals, training manuals, preventive maintenance manuals and other quality standard documentation.

    • Assists Purchase Department in specification of items for purchase, spare parts details and other day-to-day jobs, as and when required.

    • Organizes daily routine checking and maintenance works.

    • Assists in preparation of Annual Budgets.

    • Assists with specifications of new equipment, where appropriate.

    • Maintains stock of spare parts and electrical consumables.


    Controlling

    • Monitors electrical maintenance jobs during shutdowns/break downs to ensure quality and accuracy. Checks the calibration of protective relays and other regular tests performed on electrical equipment during shutdown

    • Checks completed work to ensure conformity to specifications and quality.

    • Provides work direction to electrical technicians.

    • Checks and takes stock level of all electrical and electronic spare parts, to have sufficient and adequate stock levels. Continuously reviews requirement of spares for various activities against availability and makes requisitions for changes or new stock for equipment and machinery in the plant.

    • Raises purchase request for different non-stock items as and when required by giving correct technical specifications for the parts or items required and liaisons with purchase in finalizing order with vendors.

    Skills

    Educational Qualification

    • B.E. or B.S. degree in electrical engineering.

    Experience

    • Minimum 5 years experience including on the job training / material familiarization. Good knowledge of English.

    Special Training / Skill

    • Should be trained in the maintenance of nonwovens technology.
