Job Description
Reporting to the Dean and CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for the infrastructure and physical operations of the University of Calgary -Qatar (UCQ) including health, safety, security and administrative processes for UCQ This position will also be responsible for liaising with the management of the UCQ staff housing to ensure effective maintenance and physical operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develops annual operating plans and budgets and manages the cost associated with the function.
Manages contracted services (e.g. Maintenance, custoial staff, security staff, cafeteria staff etc) to maintain appropriate levels of quality service while managing costs.
Prepares and updates a strategic plan for the Facilities, Health, and Safety, and Administration functions.
Maintains physical operations by conducting regular inspections of grounds, buildings, and UCQ common areas. This would include areas that may be operated by external contractors (e.g cafeteria)
Reviews and revises (in consultation with key stakeholders) policies and procedures pertaining to infrastructure, physical operations, health, safety, security and administration.
Participates in the tender/bid and contracting process for security staff, cleaners, ground keepers, maintenance and repair staff and catering staff.
Manages/monitors renovations and capital improvements.

Skills
Bachelor degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years previous experience in facilities management or an appropriate combination of education and experience (e.g. trades/technology qualifications with appropriate experience)
Experience with forecasting and budgeting
Excellent English writing and communications skills.
Excellent project management skills.
Ability to develop policy and procedures and to advise senior leadership on courses of action.
