    Job Description

    • Coordinate the preparation of the Corporate Fire Protection Philosophy accordingly to the applicable NFPA Standard.
    • Coordinate Preventive Maintenance, Inspection and Testing of Fire Suppression Systems, Fire & Gas Detection Systems, Passive Fire Fighting Equipment and other Loss Prevention Equipment in accordance with what required by NFPA.
    • Identification of critical industrial installations and of their loss prevention requirements.
    • Implement/monitor the correct Fire and Loss Prevention equipment usage including defects, maintenance and storage.
    • Conduct high level skilled inspection, water flow testing of fire water grid, fire pump performance testing and test/commissioning of fire protection systems.
    • Review the Fire Suppression and Detection concept design for compliance with the applicable NFPA standards and with and local civil defense requirements.
    • Coordinate the repair and modification works on existing Fire Fighting Equipment when required.
    • Coordinate Emergency repairs and trouble shooting of the Fire Suppression & Detection System.
    • Fire Protection and Detection System gap analysis review.
    • Technical tender preparation for the Fire Systems upgrades in accordance with what required by Consultancy, Insurance Recommendation and NFPA requirements.
    • Budget identification for the upgrading of Fire and Detection systems.
    • Provide advice and support to high fire risk activities like work on live equipment, hot work in hazardous area, refueling activities, flammable material handling and storage.
    • Monitor the implementation of the hot PTW .
    • Verify the correct application of the NFPA standards in line with the Safety Corporate Loss prevention programs.
    • Administrate the firefighting maintenance contractors for compliance with the corporate Safety and Loss Prevention Programs.
    • Ensures Safety and Loss Prevention legislation, regulations, policies and procedures are well implemented during the Emirates Steel field operations.
    • Participate in fire accident investigation, root cause analysis and recommendations.
    • Produce the required monthly reports.
    • Advise the line section head on complex HSE issues.
    • Ensures HS legislations, regulations, policies and procedures are considered in the concept design, inspection, testing and modification of the Fire System.
    • Actively involved in deciding the fire and loss prevention trainings both for the company’s direct employees and the contractors as well as conducting periodic drills.
    • Play the required HSE role during fire emergency situations
    • Train and develop any trainee HS staff.
    • Other Emirates Steel customer needs.

    Skills

    • Basic design knowledge of civil, electrical, mechanical and industrial installations.
    • Basic knowledge of technical function of compressors, valves, storage tanks, piping systems, underground facilities, hydraulic systems.
    • Deep knowledge of flammability, flame retardant/resistance, flame stopping.
    • Fluent in English, effective in written and verbal communication.
    • Experienced and capable of thoroughly understand the NFPA 1, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 22, 24, 25,30, 72, 80, 101, 214, 11, 11A, 16, 850, 2001.
    • Knowledge of the basic fire dispersion modeling
    • Computer literate in Windows, Office, PDF, CAD or other computer aided design software (a plus).
