Fleet and Logistics Manager

Job Description

• The fleet manager should have experience with handling over 200 trucks including Chinese trucks.
• Ability to plan, distribute, and control shipments to various warehouses and customers within the time standards laid down by the company, at the optimum cost.
• Should be familiar with modern material handling methods and should have used technology and specialized software to improve productivity and reduce damages during storage and distribution of goods.
• Should ensure optimum utilization of all distribution and transport resources.
• Should also develop alternate and innovative methods of distribution, keeping in mind the company's needs for quick distribution at minimum cost.
• Should have good negotiating skills for finalizing transportation rates with transport and shipping companies.
• Should be familiar with computerised Logistics operations and should utilize the company's ERP system effectively to improve the Logistics function.
• Should be able to develop and help dealers in improving their material handling methods to reduce damages.
• Should monitor and control overheads and operating expenses.
• Should prepare an Annual budget for the Logistics function for approval by Management.
• Should carry out periodic inventory checks as per company norms.
• Should provide periodic information to Management regarding Logistics activities and develop standards for evaluating the efficiency of the department.
• This is a Senior Management position and there are excellent prospects for career growth and advancement.

Skills

• Knowledge of importing and forwarding.
• Experienced in multi-drop transport management.
• Ability to manage a number of projects and initiatives simultaneously.
• Excellent of knowledge of Excel and related specialist logistics software.
• Proficient with Oracle and ERP systems.
• Up to date with all legislation regarding Road Transport Operations, i.e. drivers hours, etc.
• Comprehensive understanding of Contract Law and Standard Transport Terms and Conditions.
• Planning and Supply Chain management experience.
• Extensive knowledge of the freight and transport industries.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
• Able to use route planning and scheduling software.
• Retail logistic experience.
