Head of Internal Audit

Job Description

Job Purpose: Manage Internal Audit function effectively in order to protect bank’s interest by regular conduct of compliance and risk based audit of the Business divisions & support functions across the bank. Contribute in the development process of bank’s policies, procedures and controls at various levels.

Principal Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

 Provide efficient support to Executive Management by developing audit and compliance strategy in line with bank’s overall strategic goals and objectives
 Develop Audit Plans for auditing all Branches and Head Office departments.
 Supervise execution of auditing tasks as per plans
 Review audit findings / reports and conduct meeting with respective managers for seeking relevant information and finalise the report for submission to the management
 Submit audit report to General Management & the Board of Directors
 Co-ordinate with External Auditors for updating on Internal Audit status, findings and facilitate their independent conduct of audit.

 Proficient in Information Technology usage in Audit

B. Knowledge:

 Sound knowledge of Audit practices (Compliance and Risk based approaches) in Banking industry,
 Good grasp of banking products, services, customer financing and Operations
 Awareness of various types of controls & techniques used in mitigating the risks
 Sound knowledge of Software used in banking e.g. Core banking etc.

C. Experience - Minimum 15 Years covering the following:

 8 years in Banking industry of which at least 5 years as Leader of audit team
 3 years in any of the Big 4 firms
 Audit experience covering Corporate & Retail Banking.

Education

Chartered Accountant (CA or / ACCA)
