Job Description

Job Purpose:
Undertake intellectual property research and analysis functions, for staff and clients of QSTP to evaluate IP-based business development. Support Marketing Manager, Technology Transfer, Business Support Managers and Grand Challenge Team in preparing reports on intellectual property matters relating to current or potential QSTP/clients.

Key Result Areas:
• Undertake original research of the published literature to identify, quantify, validate business, legal, and administrative issues related to intellectual property for QSTP or its clients
• Identify, subscribe and/or contract with providers of propriety information systems (e.g. international patent agents, market research companies, etc) in order to deliver the required research services
• Locate specialist reference material, collect statistical data, and summarise findings
• Coordinate with the research resources of Education City Branch campuses to identify areas of in-house expertise and potential joint projects
• Meet with the originator of “research requests” to agree scope of work
• Prepare written “scope of research plans” in collaboration with the Business Support Manager or on behalf of the Marketing Manager and Technology Transfer Manager
• Prepare reports detailing the findings and an analysis of the research results in a variety of formats (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, etc)
• Meet with the originator of “research requests” to present research findings
• Assist in the public dissemination of the research findings, if appropriate

Skills

• Master degree or work equivalent in the field of intellectual property
• Good computer literacy in terms of Microsoft and other software applications (e.g. on-line database systems)
• Ability to manage own time
• Demonstrate the ability to be diligent, analytical, impartial and through
• Background in technology related industry an advantage but not essential
• Knowledge of intellectual property matters an advantage but not essential
• Fluent English, both written and spoken
• Knowledge of Arabic an advantage
