    About the Department:


    The Technical Department is a service provider primarily to Container Terminal Operations. All the equipment and accessories are made available for operations in safe condition to perform the core business of the Port. There are more than 3500 mobile and static equipments are maintained by the Technical Department. The range of equipment maintained and repaired is from low-tech units such as trailers to high-tech units, such as Super Mega-Max ship to shore gantry cranes.

    There are more than 700 hi-skilled and technically sound manpower is the strength behind the success and achievements of Technical Department. Computerized Maintenance Management System (MAXIMO) that has tight integration between Maintenance, Inventory and Purchasing is used to manage all the equipments in the department.

    There are different types of workshops to handle different types of equipments such as plant workshop, crane workshop, cold store, reefer yard, etc. Technical Department is a place where trainees and employees equally improve their skills through various technical and soft skills courses, practical demonstrations and projects

    About the Role:
    This position reports to CHARGEHAND-MECHANICAL WORKSHOP and the main purpose of the role is to carry out the mechanical maintenance and repairs, to the DP World plant and equipment therefore contributing to the smooth flow of port operations:

    Key accountabilities will include:
    * To carry out planned maintenance to all scheduled plant and equipment to the standards required by the DP World for both safety and reliability.
    * To diagnose faults on equipment and ascertain cause of defects, repair methods and spare part requirements for efficient and permanent repairs.
    * To identify and select the correct spare parts either by visual recognition or from technical equipment manuals thereby constantly monitoring and improving all repair methods.
    * To carry out maintenance work, fault diagnosis and repair works, on Heavy Duty Diesel Engines, Automatic, power shift & manual Transmissions, Steering, Brakes & Hydraulic systems in an efficient manner.
    * To keep the Charge hands informed of progress & problems to ensure smooth flow of communication.
    * Make sure job notes on work orders are accurately written. 
    * To maintain tidiness and cleanliness of workshop facilities and all equipment thereby creating a safe and healthy work environment.
