Office Director, Beirut

Amnesty International - Beirut, Lebanon

Ref. JB2098411

Job Description

For fifty years, we’ve been campaigning for human rights wherever justice, freedom and truth are denied. We’ve reshaped policies, challenged governments and taken corporations to task. And in doing so, we’ve changed thousands of lives for the better. We’re looking for an exceptional leader for our Beirut office, to build our profile, reach and support in the MENA region.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This critically important role, based in Beirut, leads on the design and delivery of human rights education and capacity building strategies, on growth projects and pilots of new forms of presence. The role will work closely on development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of the regional growth in the MENA region. To make a valuable impact, there is a need to build and maintain effective working relationships with Amnesty International sections and members in the MENA region, to build strategic partnerships, engage closely with civil society and other NGOs and to deepen and grow existing relationships in the region. Effective leadership of the Beirut office will include managing staff, ensuring legal compliance and effective communication across the movement. The successful individual will act as a spokesperson for Amnesty International in the region.

Skills

ABOUT YOU

An experienced and results driven leader, you’ll have demonstrable skills and substantial experience of managing strategic and operational planning, delivery, and evaluation. You have experience that’s backed up by strong expertise and knowledge of the MENA region and a detailed knowledge and understanding of political and human rights trends and priorities. You have a strong background in human rights education and growth of impact through participation. You inspire, motivate and guide your teams in a pressurised and changing environment. You have excellent communication, presentation and advocacy skills, allowing you to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You are passionate about making a difference.
