    Respiratory Therapist/Speech language therapist

    Job Description

    Respiratory therapist:
    Assess and provide treatment plan for patients with respiratory problems of all ages.
    Set up and utilize cardiopulmonary equipment and machines needed to asist /monitor patients breathing, such as CPAP, pulse oximeters etc.
    Administers respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage; assisting with breathing exercises; monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes; directing treatments given by aides, technicians and assistants.
    Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
    Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences.
    Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
    Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
    Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    Additonal experience in Home care and /or nursing home facility is an advantage.

    Speech Language Therapist
    Ability to work closely with infants, children and adults who have various levels of speech, language and communication problems.
    Experience working with people who have swallowing difficulties.
    Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and also liaise with professionals in education and the social services.
    Identifying children's developmental speech and communication difficulties/disorders;
    Assessing and treating swallowing and communication difficulties arising from a variety of causes, e.g. congenital problems (such as cleft palate) or acquired disorders after a stroke or injury;
    Devising, implementing and revising relevant treatment
    Monitoring and evaluating clients' progress;
    Writing and maintaining confidential client case notes and reports

    Skills

    Respiratory /Speech language Therapist

    Qualification: Bachelor's degree in respiratory/speech therapy as applicable. Additional certifications are an added advantage.

    Licensure: HAAD license/passer with or without dataflow completed.

    Speech Language therapist:
    A calm and patient manner, since you will be working with ill and needy people
    Empathy to listen to and understand a range of problems relating to every aspect of a patient's life
    An analytical and problem solving mind to unravel the causes and effects of a patient's symptoms
    A patient methodical approach to problem solving; speech and language problems can take months or years to treat.

    The confidence to make decisions based on your own findings as well as the ability to work as part of the team with other SLT therapists and health workers.
    Good organisational skills as you will be working with multiple patients throughout a single day.

    The effects of speech and language problems can be quite debilitating, so a certain amount of objectivity is required in order to function as a professional.
